CAPITALIZED COST
Expense accrued to the cost basis of a fixed asset seen on the firm’s balance sheet. Used in depreciation computations, these costs are added when building or funding fixed assets. Capitalized cost is not expensed in the period it was incurred, but acknowledged over a time period, either via amortization or depreciation.
