CASH FOR CAULKERS
Colloquial term for the United States' Home Star Energy Retrofit Act of 2010. The Act gives incentives for particular energy-efficient home improvements. It allocates $6 billion for rebates under two programs: Silver Star and Gold Star. The Silver Star gives a rebate of up to $3,000 in rebates for energy-efficient appliances, doors, insulation, and windows. The Gold Star gives a rebate of up to $8,000 for energy audits and improvements, which reduce total energy usage by over 20%.
