Gauge of market expectations of 30-day volatility for the Nasdaq-100 index, implying the price of near-term options on this index. It entails the top 100 US and international nonfinancial securities by market capitalization listed on the Nasdaq. Expressed as a percentage, the Chicago Board Options Exchange created the VXN in 2001.
