CERTAINTY EQUIVALENT
Guaranteed return an investor would receive in place of a potential higher but uncertain amount. For instance, if an individual thought of leaving his job to start a business, and possibly make more money, but opted to stay and continue earning a salary instead, the amount of salary is his certainty equivalent.
