CERTIFICATE OF DEPOSIT - CD
Relatively low-risk debt instrument which permits the holder to receive interest. This savings certificate is purchased directly through a commercial bank and insured by the FDIC. It has a defined set interest rate and can be issued in any denomination. Its maturity ranges from one month to five years.
