COMMODITY POOL
Private investment structure or syndicate pooling investor contributions to be used for trading commodity futures or option contracts. Investors share in gains and losses on a pro rata basis. The commodity fund or pool serves as a single entity to gain leverage in trading, hoping to maximize profit potential. The National Futures Association (NFA) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulate commodity pools. Also known as managed future funds.
