CONTANGO
Occurrence in which the current futures price of a commodity is higher than the expected current spot price of the underlying asset. It is a situation where the future spot price is lower than the current price, and individuals are willing to pay more for an asset in the future. This may be because people prefer paying a premium to have the commodity in the future over paying the storage and carry costs of purchasing it today.
