Corporate entity registered and operates in another jurisdiction or country than the residency of the owners. In the United States, the Internal Revenue Agency defines control of the foreign corporation based on the percentage of shares owned by American citizens. Alongside tax treaties, controlled foreign corporations laws dictate how taxpayers should declare their foreign earnings.
