Stock in which the underlying firm belongs to an industry or niche with financial performance, which is negatively correlated to the overall state of an economy. Therefore, the price tends to move opposite to the overall economic trend, which means appreciation emerges in times of recession while depreciations in value appear in times of economic expansion.
