DIVESTITURE
Partial or full disposal of a company asset through exchange, closure, sale, or bankruptcy. Normally, a company will often divest its business unit that is not performing well, not vital to its core competency. It may also happen if the unit is redundant after a merger or acquisition. Either the court orders selling the unit to enhance market competition or doing so escalates the resale value of a company.
