EARNINGS ESTIMATE
Analyst’s estimate for a firm’s future quarterly or annual profits. Arguably, this is the most significant input in evaluating a company. By putting estimates on the firm’s earnings for particular periods, analysts can then use cashflow analysis to assess a company’s fair value, and in turn, will render a target share price for publicly traded firms.
