EMPIRICAL DURATION
Computation of a bond’s duration based on historical-based market prices and prevailing Treasury yield. When the historical yields change, historical bond prices will change, forming the basis for the duration. Duration refers to the sensitivity of a bond’s price with a 100-basis-points in the yield.
