EMPLOYEE STOCK OPTION - ESO
Company’s stock option given to selected employees. These options carry the right, not obligation, to purchase a certain amount of shares in a firm at a preset price. This is somewhat different from a regular exchange-traded option since it is not generally traded on an exchange and has no put component. Moreover, employees usually must wait a given vesting period before they can exercise the option.
