EUROPEAN SOVEREIGN DEBT CRISIS
Time period in which many European countries endured the collapse of financial institutions, high government debt, and briskly escalating bond yield spreads in government securities. Started in 2008, Iceland’s banking system tumbled, and spread to Greece, Ireland, and Portugal the following year. This debt crisis resulted to dwindling confidence for businesses and economies in Europe.
