EVERGREEN OPTION
Employee stock option plan in which additional shares are automatically granted to the plan each year, based on a fixed percentage of the firm’s outstanding common shares. In most cases, such plans have no expiration date and require no shareholder approval. But the board of directors must approve the number of shares to be automatically allocated to the plan every year. Also called evergreen provision or evergreen plan.
