EXPIRATION DATE
Last day an options or futures contract can be realized. When an investor purchases an option or futures contract, he has the right, not obligation, to buy or sell an asset at a predetermined price called strike price, within a specific time period, on or before the expiration date. However, if the investor opts not to exercise the right, the option or futures contract expires and becomes worthless. He will lose the money paid to purchase the option.
