EXPORT CREDIT AGENCY - ECA
Financial institution or agency providing trade funding to domestic firms for international activities. They finance services including loans, guarantees, and insurance to these companies to promote exports in the domestic country. The main objective of ECA is to eliminate the risk and uncertainty of payments when exporting outside their country. The ECA takes the risk away from the exporter and transfer it to the agency itself, for a premium. It also underwrite commercial and political risks of investments in foreign markets normally considered to be high risk.
