FAIL
Fail is a situation when a seller does not deliver securities or a buyer doesn’t make due payments by the settlement date. There can be either a short fail or a long one. A short fail occurs when a seller doesn’t deliver the contracted securities. When a buyer can’t pay for the securities, it is a long fail.
