GOODWILL IMPAIRMENT
Goodwill considered or has become of lesser value than at the time or purchased. In accounting, when the goodwill’s carrying value surpasses the fair value, then it is impaired. Negative publicity about a company or depletion of brand-name recognition can make goodwill impairment.
