HOME AFFORDABLE MODIFICATION PROGRAM - HAMP
HAMP was introduced in 2009 to promote stability in the housing market. It aimed to help homeowners who were giving more than 31% of their gross income to mortgage payments. Qualified homeowners may receive adjustments to the mortgage principal or interest rate to get the income percentage going to payments below 31%.
