IRS PUBLICATION 514
A document that gives tax guidance for individuals who paid or accrued foreign taxes to a foreign country on foreign source income, which can be subjected to US taxes on the same income. Employers can include taxes paid to foreign governments as an itemized deduction or claim tax credit. Like the income earned in the United States is subject to regular income tax, it is also subject to alternative minimum tax.
