A local currency system used in Ithaca, New York that is valued at $10. The currency is not a fiat and not supported by the United States government. Enterprises are not mandated to accept it for purchasing products and services. Businesses and individuals who received Itaca HOURS must use these in local establishments because normally, other localities do not accept them. This local currency system was designed to promote local economic strength and community self-reliance.
