It is Korea Exchange’s Stock Market Division with 1,799 companies traded as of 2011. It used to be a self-dependent South Korean exchange formed in 1965 to merge Korea Stock Exchange, KOSDAQ, and Korea Futures Exchange. Initially, there were only 12 companies who were trading in the exchange. Here are the milestones of KSC: launching of the Stock Index Futures Market in 1996 and the Stock Index Options Market in 1997; adoption of electronic trading, 1988; warrant trading, 2000; and equity options and ETFs, 2002. The instruments traded are stocks, bonds, ETFs, and REITs.
