LEASEHOLD
Holding of property by lease; accounting of assets that is leased and classified in a firm’s balance sheet. To be classified as a leased asset, the company should engage in an operating lease agreement, not in a capital lease. Capital leases has a different accounting treatment because it is categorized as long-term assets with long-term liabilities. Some examples of operating lease are renting a building, a service vehicle or a heavy equipment.
