LETTER OF INTENT - LOI

  1. An interim agreement or non-binding document that expresses a company’s intention to execute a corporate action, which is presented point-by-point. The company writes the letter with its management and legal council, among other officials, to outline the action details. Also known as a memorandum of understanding or precontract.
  2. A legal document that parents use in order to outline their thoughts and hopes they have concerning their children in the event the parents die. The courts use the details written in the letter of intent to resolve what happens to the children.
