LONG-TERM EQUITY ANTICIPATION SECURITIES - LEAPS

Publicly traded options contracts with maturity that are more than one year. LEAPS is almost similar with short-term options, but the later expire much longer; this gives more opportunity for long-term investors to attain exposure in extended price changes without the need to combine shorter-term options. The premiums for LEAPs are greater than usual options in the same stock because the raised maturity gives the specific asset more ample time to make a significant move and for the investor to create a sizable profit.
