LOOK-THROUGH EARNINGS
Refers to the profits a company pays to shareholders in the form of dividends and the remaining earnings it uses to grow its operations. Warren Buffett popularized this concept for analyzing overall earnings-generating capacities of a company. The idea behind this is all of the profits have value to investors. The dividends give an immediate benefit, while the remaining earnings must raise the stock’s worth in the future.
