MAASTRICHT TREATY
An international agreement signed by leaders of 12 member nations on February 7, 1992 that is responsible for the creation of European Union (EU). The treaty, signed in Maastricht, Netherlands, signifies the serious intentions of its member nations to draw a common economic and monetary union. It also aimed to unite defense, citizenship, and currency policies among its member countries.
