MACRO MANAGER

A boss or an employer who lets their employees do their tasks on a minimal supervision. Some employees look at macro managers as supervisors who do not give enough support or feedback in order to do their responsibilities effectively; others find it good to be trusted and left alone. It is the opposite of a micro manager, an individual who is overly controlling and critical, and constantly looks over his/her employees’ shoulders.

It also describes an individual who manages a global macro hedge fund.
