MARKET SURVEILLANCE
A unit in the securities market that is responsible in ensuring all trading is done in a compliant and an orderly manner by investigating and preventing abusive, manipulative or illegal trading practices. By doing so, buyers and sellers are willing to participate because they feel confident in the fairness and accuracy of transactions. Having no market surveillance would deter investments and hinder economic growth. Public sector and private sector can provide market surveillance.
