PATENT CLIFF
Patent cliff happens when the revenues of a firm could "fall of a cliff" if one or more of their established products go patent expiry or off-patent because these can be faked by competitors and sold them for cheaper prices. Even though it can be applied to any business field, the term pattern cliff has recently become exclusively associated with the pharmaceutical industry.
