SPUD
Spud is also known as ‘spudding in.’ In the field of oil and gas, it is the process of initiating well drilling. At first, a large drill bit creates a surface hole and then it is lined with casing and cement as a protection for the groundwater. Following the completion of the surface hole, the main drill bit is used to reach the intended well depth.
