STREET EXPECTATION
Average estimate of a public firm’s future performance, specifically its earnings and revenues, taken from analysts’ predictions that give research coverage on the company. It is a closely monitored estimate assuming prominence during the time most public companies report their results. The term stems from the fact analysts of the largest brokerages are normally based on Wall Street in the United States and Bay Street in Canada. Also called earnings estimate or earnings expectation.
