SUNK COST DILEMMA
Formal economic term for irrevocable costs that have been incurred and time that has been allocated for it. It is the emotional difficulty of deciding whether to push through or drop a project with obscure prospects. When attempted to be resolved, this dilemma requires evaluating if an investment would be really wasting good money after bad. Also called Concorde Fallacy.
