TAX LIEN
Legal claim filed by a government entity against the taxpayer’s assets who fails to pay his taxes. It is a last resort to force an entity to settle their taxes. To avoid a tax lien, an individual or business must pay the total amount of taxes they owe, settle debt in bankruptcy court, or compromise with tax authorities.
