TEASER RATE
Initial interest rate on an adjustable-rate mortgage. Normally, its rate goes below the current market rate and lenders use this to gain borrowers to choose ARMs over other mortgages. The rate will take effect for only a few months, then it will gradually increase until it hits the fully indexed rate, a static margin rate plus floating rate index where the mortgage is linked.
