TIME-PREFERENCE THEORY OF INTEREST
Theory evaluating the nature of consumerism and the factors pressing consumers to defer current consumption or expenses, expecting greater future returns. It can be quantified as the amount of money needed to compensate the consumer in foregoing current consumption. It also endeavors to link interest rates into the equation by comparing the expected value of future returns and the interest rate paid on present savings.
