Game theory mechanism subject to a payoff matrix similar to a prisoner’s dilemma. Anchored on the concepts of retaliation and altruism, this is often applicable to economics and biology. Every participant in a prisoner’s dilemma will follow an action consistent with their rival’s previous turn. American political scientist Robert Axelrod developed the mechanism.
