TOBACCO TAX
Tax levied on all tobacco products including cigarettes and cigars to finance healthcare programs for the state’s poor, as well as to support cancer research, smoking prevention, and cessation program. The tax endeavors to prevent more children from becoming smokers and convince adult smokers to stop smoking. Also called cigarette tax.
