8-A FIRM

Company owned and operated by individual that is socially or economically disadvantaged. Such firms are qualified for financial assistance, mentoring, training, and other types of assistance. This status is part of the Small Business Administration (SBA)’s business development program, an agency responsible for supporting the growth and development of small businesses. Outlined in the Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act, it seeks to help small, disadvantaged entities in order to compete in the overall market.
