ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING - ADL

Regular activities that individuals tend to do everyday without acquiring any assistance. There are six basic ADLs: transferring (walking), toileting, dressing, bathing, eating, and continence. The ability of an individual to perform ADLs is important to determine which type of coverage (i.e. long-term care, Medicaid, or Medicare) and long-term care (e.g. home care or nursing-home) that the individual might require.
