ADDITIONAL PAID IN CAPITAL
A value usually included in the contributed surplus account found in the equity section of shareholders within the balance sheet of a company. The account signifies the payment of an investor over a stock issue's par value. Additional paid-in-capital can originate from the issuance of either a common or preferred stock.
