ADJUSTABLE-RATE MORTGAGE - ARM
A kind of mortgage wherein the interest rate which serves as a payment for outstanding balance may differ according to a particular benchmark. The initial interest rate, most often, is fixed within a certain time period after which will be reset after a certain period, most of the time every month. The borrower will base the interest rate on a benchmark and on a spread, called an ARM margin.
