AFTER-TAX RETURN
An investment return which includes capital gains and all income received, calculated by considering the paid or expected income taxes into account. Commonly reserved for returns on positions that either been sold or closed out, after-tax returns may also be used for the evaluation of the municipals' after-tax yield versus government and corporate bonds because the municipals are not obliged from federal income taxes.
