AGGREGATE STOP-LOSS INSURANCE

A policy created to put boundaries on the claim coverage (losses) to a particular amount. It is ensured in this kind of coverage that catastrophic claims (specific stop-loss) or numerous claims (aggregate stop-loss) will not upset the monetary reserves of a self-funded plan. The aggregate stop-loss guards an employer from a higher-than-expected claim. If the sum of the claims surpasses the aggregate limit, the employer will be repaid by the stop-loss insurance.
