ALIMONY
Alimony is payments made to a former or even a current spouse under a divorce or separation agreement. In the United States, laws on how alimony will be awarded and paid vary from one state to state. Factors such as the length of the marriage, spouse’s financial prospects, and spouse’s relative incomes determine how the alimony will be awarded.
