AMERICAN CODE FOR INFORMATION INTERCHANGE - ASCII
A type of code for data transmission. It translates letter characters and symbols into code that is used in computer systems. There are two types of ASCII codes; first the standard code that uses a seven-bit encoding system and the extended uses an eight-bit system.
