APPLETON RULE
It is a regulation that was initiated by the New York Deputy Superintendent of Insurance, Henry D. Appleton in 1901. It states that any life insurance company that is registered and doing business in the Apple City, or New York, is required to follow the rules and legislations of the city regarding insurance even if the business transactions happened outside the state.
