ATTRIBUTION ANALYSIS
A performance-evaluation tool employed to asses the abilities of fund or portfolio managers. The attribution analysis reveals the impact of the investment decisions of the managers with regards to the overall investment policy, security selection and activity, and asset allocation. A portfolio or fund;s returns are leveled to a benchmark to determine whether the manager is just lucky or really skilled.
