BANDWAGON EFFECT
A psychological phenomenon in which people do something mainly because others are doing it, regardless of their personal beliefs, which they may override or ignore. The bandwagon effect has broad implications, but is often visible in consumer behavior and politics. The phenomenon may also be visible during the growth of asset bubbles and bull markets.
This effect may also be referred as "herd mentality."
